If you know me well, you should know that I can't stand stereotypes of any form.
The label 'cutter' is one of them, of course.

I've always felt quite strongly on this subject. In the seventh grade, I saw a number of kids gathered around a computer in the computer lab, watching this 'Tickle Me Emo' video... It's on YouTube. I kind of watched it from where I was, and the whole time, as my classmates were laughing at it, I had this horrible feeling in my stomach.
There are so many misconceptions about self-harm... Last year in my US History class, our teacher told us that Meriwether Lewis (as in 'Lewis and Clark' ) was caught cutting himself. When my class heard this, they made comments like "That man was crazy." Many people also seem to think that self-harm is to get attention... It really is not. It's a way to cope with one's pain.
So many people just sit back and laugh at those who are going through this, when they really should be helping. Horrible, isn't it?
I guess all I can really say from here is to watch the video linked in that article (above).
(I reccomend listening to Superchic[k]'s song called Hero. It's pretty much about this.)
Quick Numbers
-121 million people worldwide suffer from depression. (The World Health Organization)
-18 million of these cases are happening in the United States. (The National Institute of Mental Health)
-Between 20% and 50% of children and teens struggling with depression have a family history of this struggle and the offspring of depressed parents are more than three times as likely to suffer from depression. (U.S. Surgeon General's Survey, 1999)
-Depression often co-occurs with anxiety disorders and substance abuse, with 30 percent of teens with depression also developing a substance abuse problem. (NIMH)
-2/3 of those suffering from depression never seek treatment.
Untreated depression is the number one cause of suicide, and suicide is the third leading cause of death among teenagers. (NIMH)
Scary, isn't it?

Moving Accounts?
Edit!
I am now at theBIZARREone (https://www.deviantart.com/thebizarreone)! Still working on moving, though. I'm about halfway through with 2008, I should be done either tonight or tomorrow!

If you don't mind, Doinkingtime (https://www.deviantart.com/doinkingtime), I'm going to steal your idea. (More like you inspired me ;P )
I hate my user name. It's quite embarrassing, and sometimes I feel like people might judge my gallery by a stupid screen name I picked when I was twelve. So I decided that I will finally do what I've been wanting to do for a long time: move accounts.
So, anyway, I thought I would give my watchers all a heads-up. I haven't created the account yet, so there is a chance that

I apologise for not submitting too much art this year! I have suffered a bit from artist's block (laugh), and I am becoming much more critical of my art. I'm not submitting everything I draw from now on. I am so far behind on drawings that I must make for some people... You know who you are, and I apologise once more!
Other than that, I have been watching movies such as Lord of the Rings and Chronicles of Narnia and reading English books like Peter Pan. Other than the fact that they are influencing my work, I really want to study abroad in England! I think I will do my best to go to college in London, but we will see how my grades go.
Merry Christmas!
Just wanted to wish y'all a Merry Christmas!
:santa:
Thank you, everyone, very much for all of your support. Thanks for the watches, the faves, and the comments especially! Comments are the best. ^_^

I'm going to my grandparent's house tonight, then again tomorrow. >_< What are y'all doing for Christmas?
Oh! And how could I forget?! Happy birthday, Jesus! :D :cake:
BTW! I reached by kiriban, 4,000! I know that that's not that big of a number, so I'm not really doing much, but thank you all so much~
(I'll do a bit more than this, though...)
This Should Keep Us All Thinking...

Watch it, think about it, and pass it on!
I had chills while I watched this. And now I feel all pumped up!
...I read a comment on that video by an atheist, and I wrote what I thought was a really good reply, but I had to post it on his user page because it was too long of a message to post on the video. That made me sad. I put a lot of work into that reply...

Horrible indeed. Thanks for working to set the record straight.
